La Cala del Moral

La Cala del Moral is a bay in the municipality of Rincón de la Victoria, located in the region of Axarquía - Costa del Sol, province of Malaga, Andalusia, Spain. It is situated between the town of Totalán, Malaga, and Rincón de la Victoria. Just ten kilometers from Malaga, 23 km from Velez Malaga and 2 from Rincon de la Victoria.

This enclave became known with its current name in the XVI century, being one of the key places in the defense and vigil of the eastern coastline of Malaga. It is separated from Rincón de la Victoria by the slope of El Cantal and it was not until the 20th century that it became a refuge for fishermen in the area. Since prehistory, man was present in the area, this is demonstrated by the finding of objects, cave paintings and Paleolithic remains found in the Cave of the Higuerón (Cave of the Treasure). From the 6th century BC, there is a type of boat in this area that is closely related to the Malaga tradition, "La Jabega".
